Hot List: Ten fine performances, October 5-11

Chase Wurdeman, Seward

Wurdeman, a 174-pound junior running back, rushed 31 times for 136 yards and scored on runs of 15, 1 and 35 yards as Seward shut down York 40-0 last Thursday night.

 

Jayce Bowhay, Beatrice

Senior running back, Bowhay had 136 yards on 30 carries and scored on a 33-yard run as Beatrice upset No. 8-rated Lincoln Pius X 26-20 at Aldrich Field in Lincoln Friday night.

 

Becca Changstrom, Lincoln Southwest

Changstrom tied a Class A state record with 20 strikeouts to lead the Silver Hawks to a 6-0 win over Kearney in the Class A-2 District Tournament championship game Friday. Changstrom, who has committed to play at Creighton next year, pitched her second no-hitter against Kearney this season.

 

Parker Schoen, Lincoln Southwest

Schoen easily won the HAC Championship cross-country race held Thursday at Pioneers Park in Lincoln. He finished the 5K course in 16:14.9, beating the second-place finisher by nearly 30 seconds.

 

Mary Hillis, Lincoln Southwest

Hillis won the girls’ division of the HAC Championships last Thursday at Pioneers Park.  She finished the 4K course in 15:38.8

 

Ryan Behmer, Adams Central

Behmer, a running back, had 145 yards rushing and scored a touchdown as the Patriots smashed crosstown rival Hastings High School 56-7 Friday night.

 

Kyle Kremer, Fillmore Central

Kremer, a 160-pound junior, carried 29 times for 166 yards, as Fillmore Central put up a fight against No. 5-rated Grand Island Central Catholic before losing 29-15 Friday night at Memorial Stadium in Grand Island.

 

Morgan Fischer, Wood River

Fischer had 26 kills as Wood River defeated Shelton and Minden on Tuesday, October 6, in the Ravenna Quadrangular.

 

Logan Glendy, Callaway

Glendy, a 150-pound junior running back, ran for 131 yards on 32 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 3 and 5 yards as Callaway beat Medicine Valley 20-6 Friday night.

 

Nick Turner, Perkins County

Perkins County's Nick Turner recorded 240 of the 262 total offensive yards for the Plainsmen in their 47-8 win over Morrill on Friday. Turner, a 150-pound senior running back, had five touchdowns on 29 carries.
