Hotlist Performers October 14th, 2009

The CoachesAid.com Hotlist of top performers for the week ending October 11th:

Mich’ele Lipari, (Warren De La Salle) SOCCER- Scored 2 goals in the second half to lead the Pilots to a 3-2 victory over U of D Jesuit and a spot in the Catholic League Championship Wednesday versus Brother Rice.  The win improves De La Salle to 13-3-4 on the season.  They defeated the Warriors once and tied them once this season, so Brother Rice will be looking for revenge tonight at 7:00 PM.

Jerome Doggett, (L’Anse Creuse) FOOTBALL- The senior rushed for 230-yards in a win over league rival Clintondale to keep their playoff hopes alive and raise their record to 4-3.

Lauren Hazekamp, (Fruitport) VOLLEYBALL- The sophomore led her team to a hard-fought victory over league rival Fremont to gain sole possession of the Lakes 8 Conference lead.  HazeKamp had 48 assists, 21 points, eight digs and six aces to lead the #9 Trojans.  In the pivotal game three, and Fruitport holding a one-point lead, she served three straight points including a pair of aces.

Shane Colburn, (Grand Rapids Christian) SOCCER- Colburn scored two goals in a pivotal 3-2 win over Northview to clinch at least a share of the Ottawa Kent White Title.  The Eagles can clinch the title outright tonight versus Greenville.

Martez Kelly, (Warren Mott) FOOTBALL- Kelly scored six touchdowns in a 49-21 win over league rival and Macomb Area Conference White Co-Leader Grosse Pointe North.  His 218-yards on nine catches led to five and his 59-yard interception return garnered him number six.  Quarterback Ben Filimon also starred combining for 386 total yards; 286 passing and 100 rushing.

Randi Brown, (East Grand Rapids) SWIMMING- Brown, the reigning Division-3 State Diving Champion, posted a fantastic 257 score to win the diving competition yesterday and help her Pioneers defeat conference foe Holland 97-90.  EGR is ranked #1 in Division-3 while Holland is #2 in Division-2.  Brown missed her first optional dive and still posted the high score.  Holland’s Paige Kortman posted an equally impressive 251 to take second; a score that would have won just about any other meet in Michigan.  The two spar again November 6-7 for the Ottawa Kent conference meet.

Sara Kroll, (Livonia Churchill) CROSS COUNTRY- The senior won the Wayne County Cross Country Meet going-away in a blistering 17:25.2.  That time is the state's second fasted recorded this season behind Rochester’s Megan Goethals’ 17:22.

Jason Fracassa, (Sterling Heights Stevenson) FOOTBALL- Fracassa threw for 277-yards on 18-of-23 passing in a driving rainstorm to lead the #1-ranked Titans to their seventh win; a 35-0 defeat of Utica.  Fracassa, a senior, has already surpassed the state record for passing yards in a career of 7,464 held by Farmington Hills Harrison and Albion player Mill Coleman.

Dustin Dagastino, (Richmond) TENNIS- Dagastino won the First Flight in Thursday Regional Final to give Richmond the title over perennial power St. Clair.  It was only the second Regional Crown in school school history.

Mario Morana, (Sterling Heights) SOCCER- The junior scored two second-half goals in a victory over Warren Cousino to clinch a Macomb Area Conference Blue Title for the Stallions.  Both teams entered the contest with 9-1-1 records.

Nathan Karr, (Ann Arbor Pioneer) CROSS COUNTRY- The senior ran the second fastest time recorded in the state this season in winning the Portage Invitational with a 15:24.9.  That is only 2.5 seconds off the top time in Michigan posted by Kenowa Hills’ Reed Kamyszek.

Ella Pendy, (Grosse Pointe South) GOLF- The sophomore shot a medalist 77 at the Division-1 Regional to qualify for the State Championship this weekend at Forest Akers West Golf Club on the campus of Michigan State University.  The Devils finished second to Rochester in the event held at Tanglewood Golf Club in South Lyon.

Zeeland East Football Team, (Zeeland East) FOOTBALL- The team handed defending State Champion and #2-ranked Holland Christian (Div-5) it's first loss 44-22.  The win snapped HC's 20-game winning streak.  Brad Horling had 238-yards rushing and almost 300-yards total offense; Linebacker Jason Molder had a safety for a score, an interception and led the team in tackles.
