FOOTBALL

JOE PALM, Williamstown

The senior running back and defensive end carried the ball 17 times for 147 yards and four rushing touchdowns. He also snagged a pick 6 from 33 yards out and punched through a 21-yard field goal. In all, he accounted for 32 of the 50 points scored in Williamstown’s 50-13 victory over St. Marys.

TYLER HARRIS, South Charleston

Tyler Harris completed 12-of-15 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns to help the Black Eagles win, 35-0, over Ripley. Harris, the leading rusher for the Black Eagles, also gained 24 yards on four carries with one rushing touchdown. This was a nice recovery for South Charleston, and Harris, after last week's 6-8 loss to Capital in the rain.

Felix Mollett rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns to help the Patriots improve to 4-2 overall.

FELIX MOLLETT, George Washington

Mollett rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots 28-20 win over Parkersburg. The senior running back made his biggest impact late in the second half of play to help the Patriots take their first lead over the Big Reds.

THAD GROGG, Wyoming East

Wyoming East Warriors quarterback, Thad Grogg, is throwing for an average of 153.6 yards per game and leads the state in number of completions.

DEXTER SKIDMORE, Pocahontas County

The Pocahontas County running back had 201 yards on 18 carries and five touchdowns last week in a 50-16 win over Wirt County.

WADE MCKINNEY, Nicholas County

McKinney rushed for 112 yards and five touchdowns to lead Nicholas County to a shutout victory over Braxton County, 28-0.

JAMIE NEWMAN, Liberty

Newman carried 23 times for 216 yards and three touchdowns to lead Liberty past Webster County. The senior quarterback and running back scored from 45, 54 and 61 yards out as the Raiders improved to 4-2.

1002-allan-wasonga

Allan Wasonga rushes for his first of two touchdowns on the night. The junior runingback has already accumulated 1,412 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns this year.

ALLAN WASONGA, Parkersburg

Despite the team losing to George Washington, the Big Reds had little trouble getting yards on the ground. Once again, Allan Wasonga rushed for 260 yards on 34 carries, with three touchdown runs of 51 and 20 yards. Wasonga has now gained over 1,400 rushing yards on the ground this season in his first six games.

TRAVIS WHITTEN, Westside

The Westside Renegades had a 28-0 lead by the end of the first quarter against the Golden Knights thatnks in part to Whitten who carried the ball seven times for 190 yards.

SHAWN MCKINNEY, Independence

McKinney had one rushing touchdown with 72 yards on the ground and two passing touchdowns with 164 yards through the air on 8 of 12 attempts as the Patriots rolled past Clay County, 30-12.

CALEB ARTHUR, Poca

Poca’s senior running back Caleb Arthur, who missed part of the first half with an injury, had 21 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

ZACK MAYS, Nicholas County

Mays had 157 yards passing with two touchdowns and contributed to 32 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown himself as Nicholas County recovered from their first loss of the season versus Lewis County.

NATALIE LANHAM, George Washington

Lanham helped the Patriots defeat a tough Parkersburg team by contributing to 11 winners in the match. With seven seniors on the roster, GW will be looking forward to the return of Lanham, a junior, next year.

SOCCER (Girls)

KARLEY WALKER, South Charleston

Walker scored two goals in a rebound win over St. Albans. The senior Black Eagles standout knocked in a long pass from her teammate Erin Clark to gain an early 1-0 lead over St. Albans. She then scored early in the second half to help her team beat St. Albans 4-0.

EMILY BLAKE, Charleston Catholic

Blake scored two goals and added two assists in Charleston Catholic’s 7-0 win over Ravenswood.

EMILY ROSS, Nitro

Ross had all three goals in Nitro’s match-up against Princeton, helping the Wildcats win 3-0.

BROOKE TURNER, Woodrow Wilson

Senior midfielder Brooke Turner caught on fire in the first half of play against defending state champion Nitro. Turner scored her first goal in the first two minutes of play off an assist from teammate Moriah Njoku. A few minutes later, Turner scored again off of an assist by teammate Andrea Cline. The Flying Eagles went on to defeat Nitro, 4-1.

GOLF

BRIAN ANANIA, Hurricane

The senior earned his first hole-in-one ever during opening day of the State Tournament Tuesday at Oglebay Resort’s Robert Trent Jones course.  The hole-in-one occurred on hole No. 7, a 185-yard, par-3. He finished play at 1-over par with a 72.
