PLAYING WITH CONFIDENCE

Playing With Confidence

“Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.” – Peter T. Mcintyre

A player is only as good as he thinks.  As a player you are coached to do certain things or to be certain places, having confidence and trust in what you are coached clears up any confusion you might have in a game. If you are confused about a play or a scheme during a game you will not be playing to your full potential, because of your lack of confidence in what you are doing.  If you are not confident, then you are playing slow because you have to process what is going on instead of reacting. Confidence also results from plays made throughout the course of a game. You have to know that it is near impossible to play perfect and that you will make mistakes,  however when you make a mistake it is vital that you respond in a positive manner and know that at that moment the only play that matters is the next one. Playing with confidence has to do with your intensity at practice. Gaining confidence comes from a ton of hard work, practicing at full speed, and being relentless during competition. Confidence doesn’t come overnight; it comes when you learn to overcome mistakes, and when you truly understand your role on your team. Being confident comes through time and effort. You are the only person on earth who can use your ability, be confident in it.
